LIL WAYNE FREE WEEZY ALBUM TRACK LISTINGS SERIAL
Like in most of his post- Tha Carter III releases, Lil Wayne’s attempts to be clever end up being clunkers: “We serial killers, you can get your Captain Crunch, n-,” “It’s 22-5 for the B and 11-5 for the Solange“ and “I thought I was whippin til that pussy whipped me/ I fell asleep in it like Whitney.” Today (July 4), Tunechi actually followed through on his promise - FWA, featuring guest verses by Wiz Khalifa and Jeezy, is now streaming, yup, on Tidal. Despite his still-contentious relationship with Cash Money, this actually seemed possible because of another, just-announced partnership - his co-ownership of Jay Z‘s streaming service Tidal. Then two weeks ago, Lil Wayne told fans that FWA will be out July 4. The title isn’t referring to the album’s cost it’s a plea to the Cash Money honcho and his longtime father figure, to release him from the label after refusing to drop the still-delayed Tha Carter V. Finally Weezy is free at last.Lil Wayne announced his Free Weezy Album six months ago, when he and Birdman were no longer in speaking terms. No phone calls, no nagging, just a time for still and reflection.
The project wraps with “Pick Up Your Heart” and we finally see Wayne get a moment of silence. Through it all, survival has been the mission and the money is the motive. His propensity for making drug references using soul singers is epic (Aretha Franklin, Beyonce and her sister Solange all get the symbolic cocaine treatment), and no one makes issuing threats sound more poetic than Lil Wayne. In terms of rap metaphors, Lil Wayne is crushing the completion. We can expect them to perform these tracks together, but beyond that it is only. You’ve heard them together before on Drake’s Forever and then Weezy’s Drop The World and most recently, Eminem’s No Love from the Recovery Album. “Living Right” is the high point of the project with its rhymes about the good life, being healthy and only consuming lean in his dreams. I expect nothing less when Eminem joins the best rapper alive, Lil Wayne, for a world tour in 2012. So, like any millionaire, Weezy finds solace in gorgeous women and doing hood rat stuff with his friend Wiz Khalifa.
Through it all he’s had the love of Cash Money Records as a safety net, a structure that no longer exists. Recognize Weezy is here and will continue to rock the mic with the best of them. It is evident though that he continues to up his lyrical game with each album or song that he appears on. He’s struggling for his own life (a moment detailed with deep emotion on “London Roads”), his sanity (“Psycho”) and his physical freedom (“Post Bail Ballin”). Lil Wayne is doing his thing and this one is hot minus 'More Fire' i didnt care for to be honest but i was feeling 'Fireman' not my favorite track. In the same way it was released, Wayne whips through the album like a maniac on tracks like “Ghost” and the Jake Troth assisted “My Heart Races On.” It reads like the never ending fight of Lil Wayne. It’s depressing stuff (that’s not easy to relate too), but he does so with razor execution.
LIL WAYNE FREE WEEZY ALBUM TRACK LISTINGS PATCH
On this album, which he suddenly dropped as a Tidal exclusive on July 4, Wayne talks about a rough patch he’s hit in his life: There’s his time on Rikers Island, his nasty beef with Cash Money Records and a slew of past breakups. We don’t know if “Tha Carter V” will ever materialize, but if it does we should expect it to be devoid of the gripes he covers on “FWA.” Lil Wayne is a complex soul and “Free Weezy Album” is his therapy project.
